If you’ve been reading my blog over time, you know that health and fitness is a passion and weight loss is a struggle. After having three children I knew that my body was not going to look like it did before children. But I knew something wasn’t right.
Over the last year and a half I have changed parts of my diet, I have exercised regularly – I have done at home exercise programs and I have worked out at the gym. I discovered I had a diastasis (that’s a separation of the abdomen, you could read about the healing of my diastasis (previous post: The day God healed my Diastasis). And yet I still felt like my stomach looks like I was expecting. Consulted with our family doctor and she suggested I workout more often, it didn’t help. Finally I went to see someone a friend of mine suggested. After a lengthy questionnaire blood work and going over symptoms I was diagnosed with Candida.
Candida is an overgrowth of yeast that feeds off sugar. That there is a very simple definition – LOL. I was put on a strict diet. No bread, no dairy, no carbs, no fruit and no refined sugar. She gave me some pills to take for the first month but continue with this way of eating for a total of three months. Knowing that I’m doing this over the summer season where there are family get-togethers and weddings to attend she did tell me to stick to this 80% of the time. This means that once every five days I can enjoy something different.
The first week was great, almost easy. The second week was much more difficult! If you follow me on Instagram you saw my struggle and faithfulness to my family making them our favourite meals. But I pushed through and continued living off of veggies, meat and eggs.
My body has adjusted and I can see great results from eating this way. My skin has never looked better, I feel much more alert, and I’ve lost weigh.
Believing that this is just the beginning and the best is yet to come!
